Sire:

Josiah is a 70-pound yellow Lab who has a muscular lean body and very calm personality. He also is known to throw gorgeous pups with his gentle demeanor. He loves to hunt and has a casual, but effective hunting style. He works the field with little effort and no wasted motion, then when he hits scent, he zeroes in on the bird, and starts to slow down stalking in a cat-like fashion, until he locks up on point. He also has one of the most intense staunch point that we have seen. He passed the APLA CPR test without having to be WHOA trained.

As a young dog, he was hunted on South Dakota birds, "WOW" was that an experience behind such a top quality pointing Lab like Josiah.  He is a great mixture of both pointing Lab and field trial pedigrees. His strong pointing traits come from the four Grand Master Pointing Retrievers in his background (Eli’s Blackjack Tori SH, Sir Mighty Eli MH, Blackwater Lexus, & Grits of Blackforest) and his intense retrieving drive comes from the five FC in his pedigree (FC AFC Hilltops Hayseed, FC AFC Black Gold Kate’s Rascal, CFC CAFC FC AFC Jazztime, FC AFC Blackwater Bart II, FC Red Oak Casey).  He is a true blend of the best of both worlds.

Dam:

Vail was born at Marble Mountain Kennels in Northern California on December 30, 2014 as a result of a breeding between two of our favorite dogs, Goliath and Kate. Vail is a 70 pound, yellow Labrador Retriever who is both intense when she is outside and friendly in person.   She loves to work, retrieve and play, and at the same time she is a big sweetheart who lives for affection.  Her strong desire to please and her intense retrieving desire has also made her a good student in training. At first glance, what most people note about Vail is her stunning appearance. She has a cream colored yellow coat that covers her classic lab body in a very attractive way.  She greets you with alert face and a muscular body that is ready romp, or settle by your feet to enjoy your pet.

Litter Description:

This litter is likely to produce pups that are 60-75 pounds yellow labs of a medium blocky build, that are good looking, have even temperaments and will love people and any athletic activity you can dream of. In the hunting area, the pups should be outstanding upland dogs with a very strong chance of being great natural pointers. They should also have the intensity, strong retrieving drive and disposition for the duck blind.

Litter Traits:

Ranking as a great potential (scale of 1-10, with 10 being highest)

  1. Family dog = 8
  2. Upland dog = 10
  3. Waterfowl dog = 9
  4. Therapy dog = 6
