Description
Rebel was born in February of 1995. He was not owned by Marble Mountain Kennels. He came from Norcross, Georgia, where he was owned by Ernie and Tina Sullivent. They can be reached at: www.rebelatstud.com.
Rebel was one of the greatest yellow Labs of all-time in the field and throws puppies that are great solid hunters and natural pointing retrievers.
Rebel was a handsome yellow with very black pigment. He held the most Open wins of any living yellow and was the only yellow in the top 4 Open Dogs after 1992. Rebel was an exciting competitor, a high-energy dog with unlimited desire who has left his mark on the sport of field trials. He was retired from field trials at the age of seven after a serious shoulder injury, at which time he became the ultimate housedog before he passed away on April 30, 2008.
In 2001, Rebel won back-to-back Opens for the third time in three years. He then placed three times in three weekends and was named to the All-Time High Point Open Dog list, as featured in the Retriever Field Trial Performance book (only seven yellows in the history of field trials have accomplished this honor; no others currently competing or breeding). Rebel has 10 Open Wins and 13 All-Age Wins! He has amassed 56 Open Points and 78 1/2 All-Age points, and was the Top Open Yellow in Wins three years in a row, and in Points for two years in a row (one point shy in a third year).
Rebel also had a remarkable season in 2000. He won 7 All-Age stakes, and finished at one-half of his trials. The year his owner lived close to him, he won 40% of his trials when handled by his owner (four wins in ten trials). He won a Two-Handler Double-Header in the Spring. He also won an incredible four All-Age trials in one month in the fall (three handled by his owner), and five All-Age trials in a month and a half. At two of these wins, his son won the Derby as well. Rebel finished the year as the #3 Top Open Dog for wins, and #4 Top Open Dog for points; he is the first yellow since 1992 to be among the Top 4 Open Dogs in the United States.
Rebel comes from a family of great competitors and tremendous bloodlines. Rebel is the only yellow FC-AFC stud dog with two FC-AFC parents. His grandfathers are legends in field trials, both already in the Retriever Hall of Fame, capturing the High-Point Open Title four times between the two of them. No other yellow stud dog today has such strong bloodlines.
Rebel has been a popular stud for many years and has produced over 1800 pups. These pups have had many of Rebel’s fine attributes which have made very nice competition and hunting dogs.
